Resolved Question: should you use commercial webhosting if you have valuable code?
If you have a database that makes use of your proprietary scripts to process data, and you feel these data and scripts may be valuable, couldn't a commercial web host in theory look every your code and thus be able to steal it if you use them? In other words, would it be safer to use your possess server in this case, maybe something like LAMP?

I currently work for a tiny webhosting / I.T company , They have several full time employees and their possess office premises. I am employed as a php developer and work part time roughly 14 hours a week on a fixed hourly wage. I have 5 + years of php/MySQL experience as well as 2+ years expererience in .net and c# . I am currently studying android and iPhone development , I have strong skills in object oriented programming and object oriented design , I also have lots of experience in both Linux and windows based operating systems and networks and I have several Microsoft professional qualifications as well as a hnd in software engineering, In September I will attend university to receive my degree in software development . So my question is with the over details and qualifications when I turn 18 in less than 3 weeks time what should is company be paying me per hour ? I'm in the UK , so if any future answers could be in GBP

My pal bought a domain for 1 year, after six months of purchased it, he added his adsense code, he used it around 6 months with ads, later when 1 year completed, he didn't renew his domain name and webhosting, and he left as it is which the domain has expired now, in the future, if anyone buy that domain, will he and his adsense receive an issue? Open Question: Is it possible to create subdomains in a host even if we haven't bought web hosting space?
When I check sites for registering a domain name, I look associated web hosting plans which says 'unlimited sub-domains', 'n subdomains' etc. Does it mean that I cannot technically have a subdomain without buying webhosting space? Can't I create subdomains and redirect them to existing free hosted blogs? Or is it that the registering hosts doesn't usually allow subdomains without buying web space from them?

Resolved Question: is my webhost being honest?
I am trying to send emails from my site to yahoo (so I can send newsletters). I am using php for this. The code I am using doesn't work from my site though others said it worked from their site. I do not receive the email in Yahoo at every and it isn't in the Spam folder either I contacted my webhosting company and they sent me this answer: In regards to your yahoo mail, the issues that you have described pertain to yahoo mail services. You have to refer to Yahoo Mail and request them to whitelist the domain name. Is this something I have to do? I suppose the opposite of whitelist is blacklist. Is it normal for a domain to be automatically blaklisted? Isn't this the webhosting company's fault? I have no problem sending emails from my info@mysite.com email to yahoo. Something else that makes me wonder is that it seems impossinle for me to receive a page rank from google, although I have backlinks I have over 300 visitors a day, I am at the top of the list for some keywords. My feeling is that this is a bad company, with which unfortunately I'm stuck, because otherwise I am sure I would lose my visitors.. By the way my site deals with teaching English to people in my country. Their is nothing bad or illegal about it.

Resolved Question: Problem with MediaWiki after copying LocalSettings.php?
I've set up MediaWiki on my site, but after copying LocalSettings.php to it's place, the site won't be available. I use a free webhosting for my site, it has PHP 5.2.17 and with MySQL 5.5.10, so it has to be compatible with MediaWiki. Any idea? Or any good MediaWiki compatible free webhosting somewhere? Resolved Question: Can someone tell me what this coding is?
So I've noticed that Yahoo inputs this stuff at the bottom of webpages (in the code) that they host and mine is no exception. What I am referring to is:
It says PLEASE REMOVE but is there a way that I can or receive Yahoo to not include this stuff? And before anybody asks, I did try and contact someone at Yahoo a few times about this and they either didn't respond or gave me a completely irrelevant answer. The only reason I'm concerned about this is that it's interfering with something I'm trying to do and it's really annoying.

Resolved Question: How to mark hundreds of email as read in Mozilla Thunderbird?
I've got an email account setup in Mozilla Thunderbird that gets email from my webhosting server. I haven't bothered to check it since maybe a few months ago so now I've got thousands of unread email, most of which are vBulletin forum mistake messages. Resolved Question: a website using of a webhost using their own webhosting is all the same people?
So basically there's a webhost using their possess webhosting to host their webhosting site, and theirs a website using their webhosting. I think both websites, including the one using their possess website, are the same people, because I looked it up and both websites were created in the same area and they're both giving me the same problem. I think they made it like that to avoid trouble. And when I go on either of these sites something that that says "open.fastlah" pops up in my browsing history ( a lot of them and they keep coming, until I clear my browsing history). During this time, I've also experienced something that says "tsd" in my browsing history, which will also leave when I clear my browsing history. This has also happened before when I've visited illegal tv show websites, so I'm aware that it means something bad. And usually when that pops up I have malware on my pc, which I'm always able to clear out with my malware bytes software. But, when I run my software it shows no malware (odd). Also, when I tried to update my Malware software I think an mistake popped up saying something about "clear malware". I'm thinking something was preventing any malware from being detected and removed?? Not to mention, a little box KEEPS popping up asking me if I want to make google my homepage, the same little box that popped up and asked me did I want to make yahoo my homepage. every of this is because this website does not a button where I delete my account, which I find odd and I've also bad things about the website (after I created the account). I've seen them communicate with their visitors or members of the sites, but it looks like they have been inactive of doing so for a few years. I've sent them an e-mail, no response, except an automated response telling me that e-mail isn't checked actively, which is also odd to me when they also claimed to have thousands of e-mails per day. Help! What should I do?

Hello, my dad just acquired a company and has tasked me with every of the e-mail and website hosting duties. We want to switch for security reasons and I am not sure the best route to take. I would like to keep the same e-mail addresses (there are only two we need) and I would like to switch the website to a host that allows me to use my possess merchant. I've recently decided that an interesting way to prank my friends would be to shoot them a phishing page. I've completed every the steps necessary, except one - I still need to upload it to a webhosting service. I'm not going to pay (I'm just pranking my friends, after every) for it, but every the free ones I've found don't seem to have the correct page setup for such things. Are there any free services that I can make a phishing page out of? @Sam- If I'd wanted to hack banks or whatever, I would've gotten a premium T35 account as opposed to going through the difficulty of trying to convince the Y/A community of my innocence. But, since I'm not willing to pay, if I don't receive a free account I don't go phishing - certainly not the tell-tale signs of a professional. And take this as you will, I think my three years on this site is proof enough that I'm a reputable individual. But thanks for your concern, anyway. @D K- freeweb is exactly the nice of thing I'm trying to avoid. GBBO looks better, but I don't live in the UK and therefore can't make the site (they require location verification). Do you know of any others?
